Create Target Node

Target Nodes are basic EC2 Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) without any SOCA-specific modifications (e.g: no filesystem mount, AD/OpenLDAP join, packages installed ...). This feature is particularly valuable when you need to work with specialized operating systems or hypervisors, such as those used in embedded development. Target Nodes are only available on SOCA version 25.8.0 and newer.

Important

SOCA does not create default Target Nodes, so before being able to launch yours, make sure to create your first Target Node Software Stack

Create your Target Node

Navigate to the Target Node section on the left sidebar:

Click Launch a New Target Nodes button to open the launch wizard:

Standard Launch

The Standard Launch is a set of dropdown menus designed to guide you through the installation process. Select a name, choose the operating system, instance type, and storage.

Browse Software Stack

You can also use a library view of all Target Node Software Stack available on your environment and choose the one you want to deploy.

Need help?

Hover your mouse on the parameter name to display help section.

Once you are ready, click "Launch My Target Node" button. Your session interface will be changed to pending state.

Target Node will spawn quickly, depending on the logic you have specified on the User Data template used by your Target Node Software Stack

Follow the instruction to connect to your target node. As admin, you can always customize the instructions by changing the Connection String of the Software Stack.

Resize your Target Node

You can upgrade/downgrade the hardware of your target only when your node is stopped and if you have disabled hibernation. To do so, click the Resize Target Node button in the dropdown menu.

Hardware upgrade/downgrade are instant. Your target node will use the updated config as soon as you restart it.

Terminate your Target Node

To terminate your target node, click the Delete Target Node button in the dropdown menu

Configure auto start/stop time

To change the schedule of your target node, click the Schedule button in the dropdown menu:

SOCA will honors your session schedule and automatically start/stop your node based on your own schedule.

You can configure three type of schedule for your node:

  • Run all day (SOCA will ensures your node is up and running from 12 AM to 12 PM)
  • Stopped all day (SOCA will ensures your node is stopped from 12 AM to 12 PM)
  • Custom schedule (SOCA will honors your own schedule)
